Stage 1 of 3: Audit

Know what you spend, where, and why.

An energy audit diagnoses your costs, consumption, assets and risks before anyone recommends capital expenditure. You get a verified baseline and a prioritised list of what to fix first.

Starts with a review of your last 12 months of electricity bills.

Twelve months of electricity bills Illustrative
JFMAMJJASONDAugust demand charge stands out
What a bill review finds: a month where the demand charge jumps. Where a maximum-demand tariff applies, one short peak can set the charge for the month, so the fix may be operational rather than a capital project.

Clarity before capital.

Most energy decisions begin with a supplier’s quote. An audit reverses that. It starts with your bills, your meters and your sites, so every later decision is measured against facts rather than someone else’s assumptions.

The result is a baseline you can use to judge any proposal, whether it comes from us, from an installer or from your utility.

How an audit runs

Everything that drives your energy cost and risk.

Bills, tariffs and consumption

We reconcile what you were charged against what you used and the tariff you should be on, and flag charges that don’t add up.

Demand and load profile

When, how and why you use power, including the peaks that set your demand charges.

Power quality and reliability

Outages, voltage and power-factor problems, and what they cost your operation.

Existing assets

The condition and performance of installed solar, batteries, generators and electrical infrastructure.

Efficiency opportunities

Lighting, HVAC, compressed air, motors and process loads, ranked by cost and payback.

Baseline and risk

A technical, commercial and financial baseline, and the risks in your current supply.

From 12 months of bills to a prioritised plan.

  1. 01
    Low commitment

    Bill review

We analyse your bills, tariff and site list to find where the money goes and what is worth investigating further.

You provide: bills for up to 12 months where available, your tariff and a list of sites.
You get: a first view of costs, tariff fit and obvious savings, and a scoped, priced proposal for the site audit.

  2. 02
    Scoped to your site

    Site audit

We visit your facilities, assess electrical and energy assets, and log demand and power quality where the findings justify it.

You provide: site access, equipment information and someone who knows how the site runs.
You get: measured data and an asset-by-asset assessment.

  3. 03
    Your deliverable

    Report and roadmap

We turn the findings into a prioritised savings and risk report, then walk your team through it.

You provide: time with the people who make the decisions.
You get: ranked opportunities, risks and recommended next steps.

Not sure a site audit is worth it? The bill review tells you before you commit.

A report you can act on, and show your board.

The audit report is written for decision-makers: what we found, what it is worth and what to do first. The technical detail sits in the appendix, so your engineers can check our work.

Because it is independent of any equipment sale, it can recommend doing less, doing something different, or waiting.

Why an independent audit matters.

An audit from a company that also sells the solution has a conclusion built in. EnergyPlus doesn’t sell or install equipment, so an audit can say “do less”, “do something different” or “not yet” and still be a good result.

EnergyPlus is part of DLX Africa, whose companies supply energy equipment. If one of them could be a suitable supplier for something we recommend, we tell you up front and compare it with alternatives on the same criteria.

Is an audit the right place to start?

You haven’t looked closely at your bills in years.

A bill review can show tariff, billing and demand issues that need no capital to fix.

A solar or battery quote has just arrived.

An audit gives you the baseline to judge whether the system is sized and priced for your load.

You run several sites and can’t compare them.

We put every site on the same footing, so you can see where to act first.

You already have solar, batteries or generators.

We assess whether existing assets perform as designed and still suit your needs.

How we charge

A fixed fee per site

The site audit is scoped and priced for each facility before you commit.

Bill review first

A low-commitment way to see what we find before scoping a full audit.

Audit on its own

You don’t have to buy a project, or anything else from us, to get value from the audit.

Common questions

What do you need to get started?

Your last 12 months of electricity bills, where available, and a list of your sites. After the bill review we’ll tell you what else we need, and whether a site audit is worth doing.

How long does an audit take?

That depends on the number and complexity of your sites. We scope and price the site audit after the bill review, so you know the timeline before you commit.

Do I have to buy a project from EnergyPlus afterwards?

No. EnergyPlus doesn’t sell or install equipment, and the audit stands on its own. If a DLX Africa company could be a suitable supplier for something we recommend, we tell you about that relationship up front and compare it with alternatives.

Can you audit a site that already has solar or batteries?

Yes. Existing solar, battery and electrical assets are part of the scope, including whether they perform as designed and still suit your load.

What if I only have a few months of bills?

Send what you have. We’ll tell you what’s missing and how to get it, for example from your supplier or from meter data.
